Lady Captains Update: November, 2019
As the winter approaches, so too does the end of my year of office as Lady Captain. I must take this opportunity to thank all committee members for their hard work and support throughout the year. I couldn’t have done it without them. The whole ladies’ section has encouraged me to start playing again, whilst showing equal concern that I don’t overdo it. My husband, Peter, has lived up to his name as my ‘rock’ and kept me smiling through disappointments when my body could not do everything that I thought it should do. I have enjoyed the year immensely and wish Rebecca all the best for the coming golfing season as our new Lady Captain.
Ladies Competitions:
Yorkshire Ladies - Vets Presidents Trophy
Congratulations to Katie Clark, Anne Gollogly and Beverly Flockton who were the winners of this prestigious trophy, beating teams from all over Yorkshire county. The competition was held at Alwoodley Golf Club, Leeds on 23rd September. [In an earlier Yorkshire Ladies competition held at Pannal Golf Club, Anne and Katie finished 3rd out of a field of 80 teams.]
Well done Ladies!
New Winter Competitions Programme
We are trialling a new program of winter competitions to include more fun events. The 4 competitions which have qualifying events throughout the year have also been re-organised. Each month 3 people will qualify, rather than the 2 and a reserve at present. All run from April to September. The FINALS will take place on SUNDAYS in SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER, with the BAGGOTT and SHAW in SEPTEMBER and the CHALLENGE and O'NEILL in OCTOBER.
Forthcoming events:
The Ladies AGM will take place on Monday 18th November and the Christmas Coffee Morning will be held on Monday 16th December.
Lady Captain’s Surprise Trip:
My lovely committee treated me to a trip to Teesside Golf Club on October 9th. We were very lucky to be able to play as the course had been closed 2 days earlier. A lot of fun and some very kind presents.
