Competitions Update: July 2020
Competitions on Wednesday and Saturday are now well underway following the re-commencement of golf and are being well supported. After the initial few competitions, handicap adjustments are now being made.
The Executive has agreed that because of the break in play during 2020 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the general changes and adjustments that have been necessary at Saltburn Golf Club in response, that Don Stubbs and Fred Pattison will retain their roles as Club Captain and Vice Captain respectively during 2021.
The World Handicapping System is due to commence in November 2020. New handicaps will be computer generated for system commencement. One of the features of the WHS is that all golf clubs will have a Slope Chart handicap re-adjustment on display. This means that when arriving to play at a course, the chart should be checked and will indicate what your handicap should be for that particular course. Further information will be provided on how the system operates well in advance.
Bookings made on Saturday 4th July will be the last time when tee-booking sign on will commence at 06:30 am. Signing on for Saturday competition tees will then revert to 6.15pm on Thursday. This means that on Thursday 9th July bookings will be taken – in the SGC Lounge, not the Bar - for the competition on Saturday 18th July. The entire booking on process will be subject to the necessary social distancing measures being adhered to by all concerned.
Times will therefore be booked and entered on the sheet on Thursday, with remaining available tee times being released for booking online from 12 noon Friday.
The £50 key draw will be suspended until contact risks can be better managed.
