Greens Notice: December, 2019
1st Hole Changes
We held an open Greens Meeting on the evening of Thursday 5th December which around 29 members attended. The meeting was arranged to allow members the opportunity to discuss any issues associated with the new hole design and the work which is underway at the present time. Minutes from this meeting are being prepared and will be available to club members.
General Course Matters
You will have noticed that light blue stakes have been placed around particularly wet areas on the 10th 11th and 16th holes. These staked areas indicate that the use of mats is compulsory within the marked areas. The posts may be moved, as required, dependent on forward weather conditions in the remaining winter period.
You may have noticed that we have a test ditch on the 11th hole, to the left side of the fairway. This is part of the work that has been done by greens team staff to try to locate old land drains. The overall aim is to try to understand why we are not draining water from the course, especially around the 10th 11th,13th 14th and 15th holes. It would appear that the ditch alongside Hob Hill road needs to be dug out and cleared. Barrie Hodgson has spoken to the Highways Department and we are awaiting a response from them regarding agreement to undertake the necessary work. Phil and his team are certain that this is the root cause of the problem with standing water on those holes mentioned above.
