Presidents Update: November, 2019
Welcome to November’s newsletter. Unfortunately, winter is upon us, the darker nights are setting in and the wet season has started with a vengeance. I outlined in the previous newsletter some issues relating to health and safety on the first hole. You will see in the newsletter some proposals to try and address these problems. If you have any comments or observations please let the Executive Committee know.
It is fast approaching the Annual General Meeting and I can’t quite believe how quickly the past 12 months have gone. I hope to see as many members there as possible.
Les and Sue are coming to the end of their respective Captain’s year and I would like to personally thank each of them for all their hard work during the past 12 months. The presentation evening and Captains farewell evening takes place on Saturday 16 November. The club is providing a free buffet for people attending and it is an opportunity for members to thank Les and Sue for all their hard work. I wish the incoming Captains Don and Rebecca the very best of luck in 2020.
Congratulations to the dynamic duo Anne Gollogly and Katie Clark for completing the Coast to Coast bike ride over 3 days in September. A fantastic achievement and they have raised over five thousand pounds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association charity. A brilliant effort from both of them.
Congratulations to Mike Vickers and Tony Halliday for reaching the final of the Teesside Alliance pairs competition which was played recently at Blackwell Grange GC. They managed to win the last 3 holes to go into extra time but unfortunately got beaten on the second play-off hole. However, an overall great effort from both of them.
Finally, I would like to remind members to make every effort to repair pitch marks and divots over the winter period. It would also help protect the course if members could refrain from walking on the fringes of the greens. Thank you in anticipation.
