A Word From Our Captains
Our 2019 Captains, Susan Fleck and Les Manship are focussed on the programme of events to celebrate Saltburn Golf Club’s 125th anniversary and are eager to ensure the success of the anniversary programme which is aimed at the enjoyment and participation of all members. You may have recently seen an e-mail (25th February) from our Lady Captain, Sue, reminding us of some of the key anniversary programme dates to commit to our 2019 calendars and diaries.
Our Lady Captain says:
“The Ladies section is looking forward to an eventful anniversary year. The first event of which will be the annual Captain vs Vice-Captain match (4BBB matchplay). We have moved this match to a Sunday this year to encourage those ladies who work to join in. We will follow the corresponding men's matches onto the tee and have a meal together afterwards. Competitors are encouraged to wear team colours Captain's team - pink and Vice-Captain's team - purple.
We are running 3 teams again this year – Scratch and A & B teams. Each one plays 3 other clubs around Yorkshire, both at home and away, so 18 matches in all during the next 4 months. Once again, our team outfits have been sponsored by S G Petch and should arrive very soon. Many thanks to S G Petch for their continued, very welcome support.
On a very windy Sunday, 24th March, our brave team of seven battled bravely against their opponents and the elements. It went down to the wire - and Katie Clark won on the 18th green to produce a team victory. Well done ladies.
Wishing everyone a good golfing season and hoping to see a great turnout for the exciting events organised for our 125th anniversary. Please lookout for posters, emails etc advertising these.”
