Men’s Captain

During last year, in preparation for our 125th Anniversary, we contacted all the golf clubs in the UK who, like Saltburn GC, were formed in 1894. The idea was to have a national competition played during the last two weeks of September 2019. Saltburn Golf Club volunteered to coordinate a such a commemorative event. We have now agreed that each 125 Anniversary Golf Club will play a Stableford competition, open to all members, on a date suitable to their diary. The top 125 scores from the competition at each club will be added to provide a club total.  All participating clubs will then send their aggregate scores to us to create a table of scores. We will then send the list to all participating clubs, along with a commemorative certificate or poster.

The mens and juniors Saltburn GC competition will be held on Saturday 21st September. It will be open to all membership categories (e.g. 5, 6 or 7 day members, flexi-members etc.). The ladies competition will be arranged around the same time on a suitable Tuesday or Thursday. We would like to get as many members as we can involved, subject to any tee-time availability limitations.

The Past Captains Trophy was held on September 1st, Congratulations to Ian Coombs who left with the trophy.

I would also like to announce to those unaware that Fred Pattison will take on the role of SGC Vice Captain for 2020. Best of luck Fred.

Ladies Captain

A slightly shorter offering from me this month since the ladies competition results have been included along with the men’s results – see Competitions newsletter section

·       The Nine Hole Friday Fun Competitions continue to be well supported and are a great bit of fun to start the weekend off. Many thanks to Katie Clark for the organisation.

·       The Ladies Exchange Day will be at Matfen Hall on Tuesday 10th September. The list is on the lady captain’s board in the locker room corridor. Please sign up so that I can confirm the size of coach needed. I tried the course in July with the Matfen Hall lady captain; it’s in great condition and the food is excellent. Money (£35) must be paid in advance by 3rd September please.

·       Ladies Invitation day - the date for this is Tuesday 17th September. Please check that you have the correct date. Sign up list is in the ladies locker room entrance.
