Captains Update: July, 2019

LADY CAPTAINS’ SECTION

Ladies Open.

This took place on Friday 7th June with 156 ladies taking part. Some teams in the afternoon (including our hard-working organisers) had to endure very unpleasant weather, but the smiles remained. Many thanks are due for the considerable efforts made by the organisers, helpers, cooks and waiters who provide wonderful treats at the half-way house, to make sure this event was a success. Thank you also to J J Dunn for his assistance.  The condition of the course was praised by many of the competitors from other clubs and several teams have already signed up and paid for the SGC Ladies Open next year.

Strawberry Tea.  

Due to a busy golfing schedule the date has been changed from 18th June to Thursday 27 June at 12.30 pm.  Hopefully this event will raise lots of money for Cancer Care UK.

Nine Hole Friday Fun Competitions.  

Nine and Dine on Friday 14 June 2019 was enjoyed by 6 teams this month. Hopefully we can make it 7 or more for the next event on 26th July.

Team matches

The Ladies Scratch team were unfortunately knocked out in the 3 rd round of the Annodata UK Golf Club Classic at Malton & Norton.

The A team halved their match at home against Middlesbrough on June 14 th .

The B team completed their season with a win at home against Kirkby Moorside on Friday 21 st June.

Overall they won three, lost two and drew one match.

Ladies Invitation Day

The date for this is confirmed as Tuesday 17th September. Please check that you have the correct date in your calendars.

CAPTAINS’ SECTION

During the month of June much time has been spent planning for a busy schedule in July. I am pleased to have attended most of the Tees Union team fixtures during the month. The Team Manager, caddies and, of course, the team give up their Wednesdays to play for and represent Saltburn Golf Club. Their commitment and dedication is much appreciated by myself and the club.
